Central Vacuum Cleaning System

Heinen & Hopman Engineering BV, one of the leading companies in the field of marine airconditioning, has already supplied and installed several central vacuum cleaning (CVC) systems on yachts. The main advantage of a cvc system is that the amount of remaining airborne dust is reduced to a minimum, because dust and dirt will be completely removed from the occupied spaces. This is significant because airborne dust allergens and micro-organisms have been investigated to be one of the most common causes of the (Sick building (ship) syndrome".

Advantages

  • Almost no remaining airborne dust ...................... achieved by the high suction power
  • No more carrying of (heavy) a portable vacuum cleaner ................... the cleaning gear only consists of a light hose
  • No machine noise ............................................. the ventilator placed in other space
  • No damage to furniture ....... because there is no "wagon" that you have to pull around
  • Less labour costs .......... work completed faster by more suction power and light hose
  • More suction power ........................................... ensuring thorough and fast cleaning
  • Easy to vacuum clean because of the light hose ....................... better for your health

CVC Unit

Selection

In essention all vacuum cleaner units are identical, all are characterized by high under pressures that is more than sufficient to exceed the performance of an "authentic" vacuum cleaner. Depending on the number of connectors that the unit must be able to serve simultaneously, the free space available and the performance you desire from it can be selected.

Looking at the HHCC-50S2 more closely, it is estimated that the maximum length of the pipe lines may not exceed approximately 25 m from the vacuum unit until the farthest hose valve Normally this is sufficient while it is not necessary to install a hose valve in each room, because the standard hose length is 8.5 m and is available upto 10 m. Thus we recommend to install the hose valves in the corridors, from where it is possible to reach the occupied spaces with the hose.

Installation Guidelines

  1. Place the central vacuum cleaner unit (preferably) in the engine room, fan room or stores, etc.
  2. Use PVC 50 x 3.2 for the entire pipe system.
  3. Never mount 90° elbows or T-pieces in the piping system but always use 45° elbows instead.
  4. Mount 90° elbows where the hose valve is going to be positioned.
  5. Never install T-pieces downwards, install them upwards or side wards and go downwards after that.
  6. Make sure that the PVC pipes and electric cables pass the wall sufficiently.
  7. Install a low voltage (24V) system to the valves.
  8. After the wall is finished the PVC pipes can be down to the right size.
  9. Remove the switch from the valves before mounting them on the wall.
  10. The hose valves can be mounted by means of screws
